The Town of Apple Valley will soon begin reconstructing Corwin Road from Highway 18 to the Apple Valley Airport and repaving Waalew Road from Corwin to Ramona. Corwin Road will be closed from Highway 18 to Tao Road beginning Sept. 16
In the coming months motorists can expect the following closures:
Corwin Road (4.5 miles total)
1) Highway 18 to Tao Road – September 21 to October 16
2) Tao Road to Rimrock Road – October 19 to November 9
3) Rimrock Road to Waalew Road – November 10 to December 4
4) Waalew Road to Ramona Road – December 24 to January 19
Waalew Road (1.5 miles total)
1) Corwin to Ramona Road- December 7 to 24
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes. Detour signs will be in place to help guide drivers around the area.
Residents, postal service, deliveries and trash service will be allowed access. Drivers are urged to drive slowly and watch for construction crews.
This $3 million project is the biggest road improvement job since the completion of Apple Valley Road. Corwin will be widened from Highway 18 to Choco to accommodate a center turn lane as well as 4’ wide bicycle paths on both sides of the road. Special attention was given to storm water drainage during the design of the project to assure that the no drainage courses are changed, and storm water runoff will drain the same way as it has historically. The turn lane and bike lanes will enhance safety for both vehicle and bicycle traffic.
