Conrad Publishing Home

In 1951 Warren White constructed a new building to house Lloyd R. Conrad's printing and publishing business. Additions were made as the business grew.

Besides the well-known "Apple Valley News," the company printed local newspapers for the communities of Big Bear, Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, and Wrightwood, as well as the Marine Corps Bases in Twenty-nine Palms and Barstow, and George Air Force Base in Victorville. They also printed business stationery, four-color brochures, annual reports, catalogs, and other products businesses needed.

The "Apple Valley News" had as its motto: "A Very Independent Newspaper." Eva Conrad, who used the slogan "See No Eva," covered local news extensively, including high school sports and society events. (See Appendix pages 30-31 for some tidbits of the boom days of Apple Valley.)
