Apple Valley Business Licenses
A business license is a yearly tax for operating in Apple Valley. You need a license for any business activity in the Town. This rule applies even if your business is outside the town limits, or you have a license from another town. The number of employees/owners in your company determines your license prices.
Pursuant to A.B. (Assembly bill) 1379 an additional $4.00 fee will be charged to all local contractors, exempt businesses, and non-profits. For more information, please visit: www.dgs.ca.gov
Who Needs Business License?
Anyone conducting or based in the Town must obtain a business license before starting operations. You must obtain a business license, including but not limited to:
Any business in a commercial or industrial area.
People with a home office or home-based business headquarters.
Real Estate Developer
Mobile vendors who sell merchandise from their vehicles, such as ice cream trucks.
Businesses outside the town, like contractors, repair people, and gardeners, need a license to work in the town.
Temporary businesses such as a one-day or weekend event in the town.
Independent contractors include doctors, real estate brokers, hairdressers, and massage therapists.
How To Get A Business License
You can get a business application from Town Hall. Or you can download a business license application. You may need approval from various Town or County divisions before getting a business license before the process is started. Check out our list below to see what your business might need.
Certificate of Occupancy
You need a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for any business in commercial or industrial buildings. This includes private use. If you change your business name or ownership, you need a new C of O before opening. New tenants and relocating businesses must pay a $198.82 inspection fee during the application process.
Community Care Licensing
State licenses are required for adult, senior, and child care providers. Call 661-789-6944 or visit www.ccld.ca.gov.
Contractors
Please provide proof that your contractor’s license with the State of California is valid. Acceptable forms of proof include a copy of your Contractor’s Pocket Identification Card. You can also provide us with a printed copy of your license status report from the state’s website: www.cslb.ca.gov. Select “License Status Check.”
Coorporations

Federal Tax I.D. Number

Fictitious Business Name Statement
Please provide proof that you have filed for a Fictitious Business Name Statement. To find out if you are required to file, please contact the San Bernardino County Recorder’s Office. You can reach them by phone (760) 995-8065 or apply at https://arc.sbcounty.gov/fbn/
Health Permit
Required for food handling, permanent make-up, tattooing, or body piercing. Contact San Bernardino County Environmental Health Division of the Public Health Services at 800-442-2283 or visit www.sbcounty.gov/dehs
Liquor License
Alcoholic Beverage Control if you sell or serve alcohol. Call 951-782-4400 or visit www.abc.ca.gov

Retailers
Please provide proof that you have obtained a Seller Permit from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (C.D.T.F.A.). Special Permits
Secondhand Dealer/Pawn Taxi Cabs may be required by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Call 909-387-3750.
Supplemental Information
