Commitees and Commissions
Planning Commission
Five members – Meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.
The Planning Commission reviews and decides on land use matters. This includes things like dividing land, Conditional Use Permits, and Variances. They also help the Town Council with zone changes, Development Code changes, and Development Agreements. They give advice on General Plan Amendments and Specific Plans.
Park & Recreation Commission
Five members – Meets 1st Thursday of alternate months at 6 p.m.
The Parks and Recreation Commission advises the Town Council. They help the Parks and Recreation Manager and staff. They focus on public parks and recreation. They work with other government agencies. They improve park planning and programs.
Measure P Advisory Committee
Five members – Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of every other month at 9 a.m.
The Committee suggests to the Town Council which places should be marked as historical sites. They also help promote the town’s history and culture.
Community Development Citizen’s Advisory Committee
Five members – Meetings are scheduled as needed at Town Hall.
The Committee oversees and advises. They approve federal grants for Housing. They select public service institutions that meet CDBG goals. The Committee reviews proposals and checks if institutions can serve low-income people well. After agreeing, they send their endorsement to the Town Council.
Building and Safety Advisory Board
Five members – Meetings are scheduled as needed
Committee members must live in the Town of Apple Valley and be at least 18 years old. Their term will continue until a new member is qualified to take their place.
