Apple Valley, CA – April 7, 2011: The Town of Apple Valley is pleased to announce that Marc Puckett, Director of Finance, has been appointed as the Chair of the Desert-Mountain Chapter of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO).

“Mr. Puckett’s initiative to promote professional excellence within his Association demonstrates the standards of excellence in public service that all Town employees strive to meet in the performance of their duties,” said Town Manager Frank Robinson.

The CSMFO is the premier statewide organization for California municipal finance professionals. Its membership includes employees and elected or appointed officials who are involved in government finance for cities, special districts and counties in California. Membership also includes commercial finance professionals, such as brokers, bankers, auditors, and specialized financial consultants.

More than a thousand members strong, the organization promotes excellence in financial management through innovation, continuing education and the professional development of its members.

As Chapter Chair, Mr. Puckett will be responsible for coordinating professional development programs for finance professionals that are members of the Desert-Mountain Chapter as well as participating in the Association’s board meetings. The Desert-Mountain Chapter is comprised of 21 municipal agencies in parts of Inyo, Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties.

Mr. Puckett has previously served the CSMFO as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Budget and Management Reporting Committee, Chair of the Orange County Chapter, and as CSMFO’s legislative liaison to four League of California Cities committees. Mr. Puckett has also been a speaker at several CSMFO annual conferences.
