Overview
Annually, the Town receives federal HUD dollars to help meet certain community development objectives. A percentage of these dollars are used to fund economic development programs that help increase employment opportunities, and improve public facilities and parks, for example. A smaller percentage is distributed to local “public services” (non-profit and charity organizations), where the dollars are used to meet basic community needs including:
- Provide homeless assistance and decent, affordable housing
- Improve accessibility, mobility and transportation services
- Promote economic opportunities and benefit low and moderate income persons
- Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight
- Meet other community development needs having a particular urgency

Grant Application Process and Information
Every November, the Town begins to accept applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The Town expects to receive approximately $652,733, based on 2023-2024 allocation. Approximately $97,909 is available for public service projects. Applications are open at this time and due by January 25, 2024, at 4:30pm.
