Public input sought for grant fund distribution

If you ever wished you had a say in how local government decides grant funding for community needs and services, now is your chance.
The purpose of the surveys is to establish priorities through public input that will guide the citizen advisory committee and Town Council in shaping the grant program for the upcoming 5-year period.
The Town of Apple Valley and City of Victorville need community input on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) priorities for the 2017-2021 Consolidated Plan.
The CDGB program began in 1974 as a means to provide decent, affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income. The HOME program focuses on providing affordable housing in our community. In 2004, the Town of Apple Valley and City of Victorville formed a consortium to qualify for HOME funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Past surveys have been instrumental in allocating funding to support programs such as residential rehabilitation, park and recreation facilities, road improvements, transitional shelters and public service programs providing at risk/low income residents of the community with vital services.
If you have more to share with us than can be conveyed in the survey, we want to hear from you. There are three community forums that will be held between Victorville and Apple Valley. Whether you are a resident or simply work in either community, you may have knowledge to share that will assist in the creation of the plan. Please plan to attend the meeting of your choosing:
- Monday, November 28th, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 12 Noon: City of Victorville, Conference Room D,14343 Civic Dr., Victorville, CA 92392.
- Tuesday, November 29th, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Town of Apple Valley, Council Chambers, 14955 Dale Evans Parkway, Apple Valley, CA 92307.
- Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Town of Apple Valley, Conference Center South Room, 14975 Dale Evans Parkway, Apple Valley, CA 92307.
A public hearing will be held at the Apple Valley Council Chambers on Tuesday, December 8 to receive input from residents and interested parties in person. Surveys not taken on line may be delivered or mailed to Town Hall at 14955 Dale Evans Pkwy., Apple Valley, CA 92307, emailed to Christopher Moore at cmoore@applevalley.org, or brought to a community forum or public hearing.
