The Public Works Department provides 24-hour emergency response for hazardous roadway and sewer-related situations requiring assistance. The after-hours emergency number is (760) 961-6001.  Please contact us if you witness or experience any of the following conditions:

• Sewer Stoppages              
• Displaced/Missing Manhole Covers  
• Noisy Manholes     
• Open Manholes     
• Overflowing Manhole    
• Flooding
• Broken Sewer Lines
• Sewer Odors
• Flashing Traffic Signals
• Spilled Loads on Roadway
• Downed Street Signs
• Dangerous Potholes
• Illegal Dumping on Roadway

To report emergency and non-emergency conditions during regular business hours, please call the Public Works Department at (760) 240-7000 ext. 7500.  Regular business hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on alternating Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

CAUTION: For your safety, NEVER OPEN A SEWER MANHOLE.  Dangerous and explosive gases may be present and may pose an immediate heath threat or the possibility of explosion if not opened properly. Additionally, manholes are very heavy and awkward; trying to move them without the proper equipment may cause serious injury.
